Bread Communion

Join us for a multigenerational service of welcome and gratitude this Sunday, wherein we will hold a ceremony for new members joining our church and celebrate a bread communion together (with traditional and gluten-free bread!). All are welcome as we give thanks for the gifts and nourishment we receive from our community and faith.
Friendsgiving

Children and youth at First U will be hosting Friendsgiving again this year! They will set up our Gathering Room space, decorate, and provide a couple of food items. Please join us for this Friendsgiving potluck and bring a dish to share if you are able.

Holiday Dinner Church
Friday, December 12, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Nourish your body and your spirit at this festive, holiday themed Dinner Church! What is Dinner Church? An opportunity to gather across generations for a simple meal with fellowship and spiritual elements. All are welcome! Please RSVP by Sunday, December 7 to attend.
In Darkness and In Light: Moving Through Solstice Together
Friday, December 19, 5:00 – 6:00 pm
All are welcome to drop in to our Sanctuary for a time of gentle music and silent candles. If work and worries have you down, come in and let it go for a minute. If the seasons or the times are feeling difficult, come in and take a moment of shared comfort. Members of the Spiritual Care Council will be available if you’d like to talk with someone. We wish you peace.
Winter Solstice Service
Sunday, December 21, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
On Sunday, December 21st, we will gather in our Sanctuary at 4:00 pm for a sunset celebration of the coming Winter Solstice and the lengthening of our days. Join us for story, song, intention setting, and meditative movement along our golden labyrinth.
Please note that our 4:00 pm solstice service will take the place of our usual Sunday morning worship. We will not have a 10:30 am service this Sunday.
Christmas Pageant
Wednesday, December 24, 10:30 – 11:30 am
On the morning of Christmas Eve at 10:30 we will offer our all-ages, family-friendly Christmas Eve service in the Sanctuary. There will be carols, candle-lighting, and a rather spontaneous and very joyful all-ages pageant. Bring your excitement and wonder and join for this festive and fun family Christmas service.
Christmas Carol Sing
Wednesday, December 24, 4:30 – 5:00 pm
Come join us for a festive carol sing along, featuring many of your favorite Christmas carols, performed by Sam Chandler, Music Director, and our Sunday Strummers band. Join in for the merriment. You can then opt to stay for the Christmas Eve Service or continue on with your own holiday traditions.
Christmas Eve Service
Wednesday, December 24, 5:00 – 6:30 pm
Our traditional Christmas Eve service at 5:00 pm will be one of joy and peace with resounding choruses and carols, contemplative and awakening readings, prayer, candlelight, and moments of pausing to experience the hope and love of this holy time. Join us for this special service in this magical and mysterious season. All are welcome.
