The Purpose of our Library

Our Library and the Little Free Library is open on Sundays during the church year, September – June, before and after the 10:30 am worship services.

To encourage a free and responsible search for truth and meaning through the written word.

First Universalist’s Library enhances our understanding of Unitarian Universalism by providing materials that chronicle the history of our church and faith, help us to reflect on our Seven Principles, and explore the place of Unitarian Universalism in today’s world.

During the next 3 years (2016-2019) we will strive to:

  • Collate and consolidate our book collection
  • Sell or donate unneeded books
  • Create a Little Free Library to be used by members and friends
  • Communicate to the congregation the new function and purpose of the book collection
  • Create rotating displays of books that correlate with our worship themes
  • Define new library spaces

Our Archival shelves and cupboards are located in the Common Room. We display and store the history of this church. On display are items of old Communion Silver and gifts from our Partner Church in Romania and from our Native-American friends in Maine.
